If coffee had a soul, it would live here among the people, the soil, and the dreams we nurture at Finca Terrerito. And wow… the last two months have been nothing short of inspiring. Grab a cup, this update has heart, flavor, and a whole lot of behind-the-scenes goodness.
Turning On the Tap: Water for El Caltatato.
In 2024, with the support of the www.matiakfoundation.com , we built the water well that draws clean water from 600 feet deep in the ground and now, we kicked off this harvest by breaking ground on something truly life-changing: a 25,000-gallon clean water tank that will deliver fresh drinking water directly to every home in our neighboring community. Yes, coffee matters but clean water really matters. This is how we define real sustainability: leaving a lasting impact that flows far beyond harvest season.
When Coffee Meets Compassion: The Matiak Foundation Visits.
We had the honor of welcoming our friends from the Matiak Foundation. Like us, they believe education is where transformation begins. Their visit reminded us that a coffee farm is more than beans, it’s a launchpad for opportunity. And when kids learn, communities thrive and life is better!
Field Trips with a Future: IHCAFE Students on the Farm.
Our hearts were full as we hosted the fifth group of young growers and future agronomists through IHCAFE. They walked our fields, dug into our organic practices, explored mountain microbiomes, and got hands-on with soil regeneration techniques. These aren’t just lessons. They’re seeds of legacy.
Celebrating Roots: National Identity Day.
Culture and coffee go hand-in-hand. So, when National Identity Day rolled around, our school lit up. Students (and proud parents!) handmade traditional costumes to celebrate Indigenous heritage. The winners? Indio Bonito (José Omar Gómez) and La India Bonita (Selena Isabel Muñoz) but really, everyone walked away with pride stitched into their outfits.
Fueling the Harvest with Tradition.
As the trees get heavy with cherries, we get busy preparing not just with tools and trucks, but with planting corn for our delicious tortillas. Our team depends on corn as their daily energy source, so we plant it with care, long before the first bean is picked. Because a strong harvest begins with strong people.
The climate: an ally that has worked in our favor.
This year, rainfall has been generous and, above all, timely. Ninety percent of our plots have received the ideal amount of water just when it was most needed. In the world of coffee, that translates into stronger, healthier beans and, ultimately, a more flavorful cup!
Our Green Coffee: Grown with Purpose.
This is not your average green coffee. We’re talking zero chemicals, full traceability, regenerative methods, organic compost, and living microorganisms that feed the soil. When you roast our beans, you’re roasting a story and your customers can taste it.
The magic of coffee in development: between green fruits and blessed rains.
After flowering and that exciting stage when the coffee looks like little peppercorns, our trees are now full of life. That's right! The coffee trees on our farms are laden with green fruits that are slowly preparing for their ripening stage. Each bean is a promise: of flavor, of history, of impact.
In the heart of the countryside: hands that care for coffee.
While the beans grow, we do not stop. In the fields, we continue to work hard, cleaning and managing the shade with precision. We want to ensure that each tree receives just the right amount of light to develop to its full potential. The perfect combination of nature and human care. We have also begun to apply our locally produced organic fertilizer, which nourishes the soil and strengthens the coffee plantations.
When coffee weighs... and weighs a lot.
Another reality we experience on the farm is the impact of the weight of the coffee bean. Some of our trees have not been able to withstand the load. Yes, this harvest is that abundant! Although some trunks have broken, we see it as a good sign: our trees are giving their all. And in coffee, that is something to celebrate.
Roaster-Ready: Your Coffee, Prepped and Perfected.
Back at the beneficio, we’re in full swing. Every lot is processed with love, logged with precision, and packed with care. Because we don’t just ship coffee we ship our reputation. And we know that matters to you.
Geneva, Here We Come: Finca T at World of Coffee.
We brought our coffee (and our story) to the global stage in Geneva. Meeting roasters, sharing cuppings, and hearing your feedback that’s what fuels us. Spoiler: Honduras showed up strong. And we’re just getting started.
Welcoming Brian Hensley to the Finca T Familia.
We’re thrilled to welcome Brian Hensley as our new Head of Green Bean Sales. Brian brings over a decade of hands-on experience in roasting, green coffee sourcing, and sales strategy across both the U.S. and Latin America. Having lived on a coffee farm in Colombia and being fully bilingual, Brian deeply understands the realities at origin and the needs of roasters. He has successfully led green buying operations, redesigned product lines, and doubled sales for producer-owned importers always with a focus on relationships, transparency, and sustainable growth. We’re excited for the value and vision he brings to our team and to our roasting partners worldwide.
Sold Out for the 2024–2025 Harvest!
A heartfelt thank you to all the roasters who supported us this year. We are officially sold out of green coffee for the 2024–2025 harvest. The only coffee remaining is that which is already under contract. If you’re still interested in trying our coffee, we have samples available and would love to explore a partnership when the 2025–2026 harvest is ready.
Want More Than Just Coffee? Let’s Talk.
If you’re a roaster who cares about flavor and footprint, we’re your people. Every bean you buy helps build schools, deliver water, and support communities at origin.
